Winter premiere in 2024 at Planetarium Noosphere

02 December
On December 1, 2024, the winter premiere of Mysteries of the Universe: Space Objects and Phenomena started at Planetarium Noosphere.

The program includes

  • the premiere of a full-dome cartoon produced by Planetarium Noosphere;
  • the launch of two thematic programs;
  • new educational games on tablets;

What will the winter program tell about?

A real symphony of cosmic phenomena unfolds in the winter sky: stars, comets, mysterious black holes, lunar and solar eclipses, majestic starfalls, and even the aurora borealis!

You will learn the answers to the questions:

  • Why do black holes appear black?
  • How do the stars help us navigate at night?
  • Why do planets closer to the stars move faster?
  • How do the phases of the Moon change and how do they affect the Earth?
These and other mysteries of space come to life in our new programs and cartoons!

“After The Guiding Star” - a full-length cartoon for the whole family

A landmark premiere of the season is the fulldome cartoon “After The Guiding Star” produced by Planetarium Noosphere. This is a fascinating adventure of the curious owl Sava, who goes on a great journey with migratory birds to see the world outside his native forest.

The clever owl helps his friends not to get lost in bad weather, and the right path is shown to him by the guiding star, which Sava's wise grandfather taught him to look for. The guiding star will not only show them the way, but will also lead Savva to great discoveries and the realization of his dreams.

The start of two thematic programs for real explorers of the Universe!

1. “Secrets of the winter sky”

Long frosty winter evenings are the best time to observe the starry sky, when the most picturesque constellations, nebulae and star clusters appear on it. You'll be able to unravel the mystery of the Star of Bethlehem, which has become the main symbol of Christmas, and find the three wise men who followed it in the sky!
We will admire the spectacular winter star showers and aurora borealis, learn how time passes in space and how long a year lasts on different planets, find out why the seasons change, and also go to Mars and the icy worlds of the solar system to solve the mystery of snow.

2. “Astronomical wonders: from starfalls to eclipses”

This program is devoted to spectacular astronomical phenomena: solar and lunar eclipses, planet parades, meteor showers, and auroras. We will find out the origin of shooting stars and the aurora borealis. Together, we will admire the diamond ring effect during a total solar eclipse and learn why total solar eclipses are becoming increasingly rare. And, of course, we will travel into space to solve the mystery of the crimson color of the Moon during a lunar eclipse.

We would like to remind you that Planetarium Noosphere is the only planetarium in Ukraine that creates its own full-dome films. Our works have already been presented at international festivals in Germany, the Czech Republic, and the USA.

Go on a space journey with Planetarium Noosphere, where everyone can feel like an explorer of the Universe!
