Astronomical Wonders: from Shooting Stars to Eclipses
Since ancient times, the sky has been surprising us with a variety of spectacular astronomical phenomena: solar and lunar eclipses, planetary alignments, aurorae, meteor showers, bolides, and comets still fascinate and make us curious about their nature.
What planets can be seen without a telescope during the planetary alignments, and how to spot them in the sky? Why do solar eclipses occur? Why does the diamond ring effect occur during the total solar eclipse? Why is the Moon covered with a reddish shadow during a lunar eclipse? What causes meteor showers, and why it is much easier to predict them than ordinary rains? Why do the light curtains of aurorae appear in the sky?
