Constellations and Ancient Myths

In ancient times, people thought the constellations to be heroes and fantastic creatures placed in the sky by the gods. People in the Northern Hemisphere still use the names given to the constellations in the Ancient Greece.

When we look at the sky, the ancient myths revive: the twelve labours of Hercules, the rescue of the beautiful Andromeda by the hero Perseus, the love of Orpheus and Eurydice, or the hunter Orion persecuted by the Scorpion… How many heroes can we find in the sky? How many of their stories can we retell? Let’s immerse in the fascinating world of the ancient myths to unveil how did the Ancient Greeks explain the seasons’ changes and the flow of the time, and why do we still make a wish when we see a shooting star?
