Heroes and Monsters: Myths of the Starry Sky
Let’s take a glance at the starry sky, and the names of the constellations will bring ancient myths to life in our imagination: the twelve labors of Hercules, Perseus’ battle with Medusa, and the miraculous rescue of the beautiful Andromeda from a fearsome sea monster, as well as the endless chase of Scorpio after the mighty hunter Orion.
Shall we explore together the fascinating realm of Greek mythology to uncover why Cassiopeia is placed upside down in the sky, why the tails of the Great and Little Bear are so unnaturally long, how Hercules defeated the terrifying three-headed Hydra, and how the changing of the seasons is explained through Demeter’s grief over her abducted daughter?
