Premiere of the fall program “To the Moon and Back”

04 September
On September 4, 2024, the premiere of the autumn program “To the Moon and Back” took place in the Planetarium Noosphere space. It included the opening of the first Lunar Zone in Ukraine, updated games on interactive tablets, the premiere of three full-dome films and ten thematic programs.

Unique Moon Zone

The only Moon Zone in Ukraine will take you to the space in the middle of the cratered lunar plains. Here you can explore the relief of the only natural satellite of the Earth and look into its interior with the help of the largest interactive globe of the Moon in Ukraine! You will find out what different lunar rovers are looking for on the Moon and how our satellite can be useful for preparing future manned trips to other planets, as well as complete a quest on selenography (lunar geography) during an interactive game. You will also get to know the main stages of exploration and conquest of the Moon!

Full-dome novelties

The full-dome movie “Moonbase One”: while watching it, you will explore the Moon as part of culture, history, and scientific discovery. You'll join a virtual game developer as she tries to understand why darkness suddenly fell during game testing, preventing an astronaut from successfully completing his mission. Where did she make a mistake in the game, which was created with the laws of physics in mind? Could it be the rotation of the Moon or its origin?

Full-Dome Cartoon “Dinosaurs”: Learn the mystery of dinosaurs together with the curious girl Celeste, with whom we searched for an Earth-like planet in space in the full-dome cartoon “In Search of a New Earth”. While preparing a school report on their evolution, the Moon came to Celeste's room and asked her: what if dinosaurs still live among us? Celeste and the Moon go on a journey through time to see the Earth as it was in the distant past. They will see how dinosaurs evolved over millions of years, how they turned from small creatures into giant predators, and how an asteroid impact caused their mass extinction. At the end of the fascinating journey, Celeste learns that distant descendants of dinosaurs still live on Earth.

The full-length animated film “3-2-1 Liftoff!” is an adventure story about the courage and ingenuity needed to go into space and return to Earth. The main character of the cartoon, Edwin, a hamster-scientist who lives in a garbage dump, tries to fit in with the local rat community, but no one takes him seriously. One day, Edwin hears a rumble. In his garden, he finds a crater and a damaged robot inside. How did it get there? Edwin fixes the robot and finds out that it fell from a spaceship that is supposed to prepare Mars for colonization, so it becomes the hamster's main task to bring it back. Will he be able to get the robot back on the ship before it goes into space with all his friends?

Thematic programs

A bright addition to the autumn premiere will be 10 thematic programs that will allow every guest of Planetarium Noosphere - from young travelers to adult space enthusiasts - to plunge into new space adventures.

In addition, on the occasion of the premiere of the updated program, Planetarium Noosphere, together with the Department of Humanitarian Policy of the Dnipro City Council, will introduce free space sessions (astronomy and science lessons) for students in grades 1-11 in Dnipro on the topic “Planet Earth: Secrets of Evolution” from September 1, 2024. The free sessions will be held from Monday to Friday. To sign up for a free space session for students of grades 1-11 in Dnipro, please contact the administration of the educational institution, which will form groups of students and centrally organize the visit.
